Start with the medicine
Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) is a medicine that copies part of a natural signal from the gut.
That signal helps control hunger and blood sugar.
The brand matters as well as the ingredient. As of September 26, 2026, Wegovy had approval for weight management, while Ozempic’s approved uses were tied to type 2 diabetes.
Approval comes from the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, the US drug regulator. It applies to a named product and use.
Can online care be real care?
Yes, the setting alone does not decide it. With telehealth, care takes place through video, phone calls or an exchange online, without everyone sharing a room.
For a semaglutide prescription, federal law required no first visit in person as of September 26, 2026.
State rules still govern the visit. Where you sit for the visit determines which state must permit the doctor to practice.
For either an online service or a clinic visit, find out who reviews your health. Ask what that review involves and how questions reach that person later.
Put the whole bill in view
What does the fee pay for? Ask about the visit, the medicine, any tests and the care that comes later.
Then ask which parts your insurance plan will pay. Keep the answers beside each other; a drug price alone does not answer the whole cost question.
If there is an opening offer, ask for the usual price beside it. If the health review ends without a prescription, ask what fees are kept and what is refunded.
Keep a copy of the fee terms and the plan’s reply. Bring any gaps back to the service before joining.
